10. Malaysian Orchid Mantis
The praying mantis is famous for its cannibalistic tendencies, but one species has a far more beautiful quality- it looks just like an orchid flower. Known as the orchid mantis, it's found across Southeast Asia. It's only the females of the species that have petal-like legs, and are yellow or whitish-pink in color, while the males are much smaller and bright green.

9. Lichen Katydid
The Lichen Katydid is a species of insect that lives mostly in Central and South America. You might never see one, though, because they are extremely talented and their camouflage method makes them very difficult to see. Plus they like to live in the upper regions of the forest canopy where there is more lichen on tree trunks. Some have more recently also been discovered in Australia.

8. Common Baron Caterpillar
It might take you a while to spot this caterpillar in this image, but that is, of course, exactly what it wants. The Common Baron Caterpillar lives in the lush vegetation of India and Southeast Asia and particularly likes to eat the leaves of the mango tree.

7. Stick Insect
You’ve probably seen this next creature up close, or you may have even had one as a pet!! Stick insects can grow to be between half an inch and 13 inches long and can live for up to 3 years. These insects are unique because everything about them is designed to fit into the background- there's virtually no difference between them and an actual stick.

6. Owls
Owls are some of the most effective nocturnal predators with their virtually silent wings, powerful eyesight, and sharpened talons to grab their unsuspecting prey. During the day, however, they need to stay out of harm's way- and to do this they use very effective camouflage. There are at least 216 different species of owl, and each one does this in a slightly different way.

5. Tasseled Anglerfish
When you think of an Anglerfish, you might be thinking of the deep sea predators with lanterns hanging in front of their toothy mouths helping them attract prey in the dark. But there are actually more than 200 different types of Anglerfish- some of which you’d have virtually no chance of seeing, even if you were able to go to the deep sea and swim up close to them.

4. Uroplatus Gecko
The Uroplatus Gecko, often referred to as the Satanic Leaf-tailed gecko, is native to the forests of Eastern Madagascar. Pretty intense name right?? Its entire body is shaped to resemble a leaf. It's twisted, has veined skin, and even looks like it has been partly eaten by foragers, or decayed. These all combine to help the gecko blend into the foliage lying around the jungle and avoid the glare of hopeful predators.

3. Caterpillar
If there was one thing that you could disguise yourself as that you’re certain nothing else would want to eat it… what would you choose? Well, maybe there’s no better choice than bird droppings- yes you heard that right- and it turns out that there are quite a few species of caterpillar that imitate it. They’ll be happily eating leaves when they detect a predator- at which point they curl up to look like a bird dropping, and because NOTHING wants to eat that, the predators move away.

The ocean can be a tough place to live, especially if you’re less than an inch long!! But there's always a way to survive, and the pygmy seahorse has developed a near-perfect camouflage.
