Often, discussions on alcohol focus on the consequences of addiction, which is understandable.
However, in this conversation I wanted to pass on the message that you can be successful, functional and free of a life of alcohol – and that for others, not drinking is not about “I can’t”, but “I prefer not to.
Sobriety doesn’t have to mean dwelling in shame of past mistakes. Instead, it can be part of challenging a social norm that does not serve a person.
