After Mary Wells left Motown in 1964, Motown paired Marvin Gaye with Kim Weston as a duet replacement. Over the coming years, they would recorded a dozen songs together and thus resulting with the hit "It Takes Two." This track was originally recorded by Mary Wells and Smokey Robinson. It was only fitting for Marvin to record it with Kim and resulted in a better version, in my opinion.
