The singer said she’s used her platform as a musician to highlight the problems in Cuba for the last forty years.
“I’ve spent the last four decades of my life speaking to whoever would listen because every time I would put out an album, especially the European press at the time that tended to believe all those lies of the Cuban government and all the things that they put out, I’d be talking about my album and inevitably Cuba would rise… and I would tell them exactly what was going on and what I knew was going on there. And of course they think that we’re exaggerating, or that that can’t be true.”
