Ginseng is probably the most well known and popular Asian herbal medicine. We have tried Chinese, American, and Korean ginseng. We find that Korean ginseng is very nutritious warm and the American ginseng is more on the cooler side. Doses depends from person to person, high dose can cause noose bleed (especially the nutritious warm type of ginseng).
Usually ginseng are bough in dried form (easy to preserve) and stored in the cooler and made into soup which take more work. We like to make ginseng whisky. You can select your favourite liquor that is 40% or more of alcohol content. This can be stored for years, just make sure the ginseng is fully submerged by the alcohol. When the roots do not release much favour, you can use the roots in making soup. Make sure to get a bottle with a wide neck so that it is easy to remove the roots (these swell up when soaked).
We drink no more than One teaspoon of the ginseng extract per day.
***Please consult your family doctor is ginseng is suitable for you.***
