A big thank you to the Fell Pony Heritage Trust for taking us into the hills to see their ponies!
It was a summers day in July when we visited the magical Fell Ponies of Cumbria. True to English form it was a very wet day and these foals were experiencing rain for the very first time.
We were lucky to witness the filly challenge her brother to a play fight. Though we were soaked to the bone but it must be said that the fells of Cumbria, where these horses come from, are at their magical best when the clouds hang low in the valleys.
These ponies are a native breed to England with a shrinking population. The Fell Pony Heritage Trust have a noble mission to create a Heritage Centre in the fells to educate and protect the breed. You can find out more on there website:
