The 2020 World Cup Gran Canaria Frontón King has officially kicked off with some of the best bodyboarders on the planet putting on a spectacular show.
On the first day of competition, the organization ran 16 open men heats and three women's division heats.
The event started with the sun shining and barreling waves pumping down the line at El Frontón, in Gáldar, Las Palmas.
The contest attracted 64 riders from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Portugal, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Peru, France, and Morocco.
Bodyboarders scored perfect waves and performed a variety of advanced tricks, including backflips, 360s, airs, and tube rides.
Maxime Castillo, Guillermo Cobo, Jonathan Vega, Borja Granados, Omar Marrero, Eduardo Rodríguez rode some of the best waves of the day.
Three-time Frontón King champion Amaury Lavernhe and Pierre-Louis Costes also competed for the first time after several months without putting on a jersey.

On the women's division, Teresa Miranda stood out with two el rollos and a backflip, and 2019 event champion Alexandra Rinder kept her dominance in the Canarian slab.
