(11 Dec 2019) New clashes erupted in the Colombia capital Bogota on Tuesday as students confronted riot police in another day of protest.
Police used tear gas and water cannon in an attempt to curb the protests.
At least one armoured police vehicle was set on fire.
The protest was called by union and student leaders as lawmakers consider increasing the minimum wage.
The unions want an increase of 8.8%, almost double the increase proposed by the government.
Colombia has been in turmoil for weeks, with almost daily street protests.
The protesters say the government has failed to address issues such as corruption and inequality.
They are also complaining about proposed tax and labour reforms as well as continuing violence in the aftermath of the country's 2016 peace accord with leftist rebels.
