Copper melt from automobile starter motors produces mixed results. I spent a few hours recovering the copper from just 2 starters (I have 3 more to tear apart). At roughly 2.5 pounds of copper per starter, it may not have been worth my time. Copper pipe is already clear and ready to melt.
But these videos are about the journey, and I have never seen the inside of a starter motor before. So to me, it was worth the time.
My quest to get a true mirror finish eludes me yet again as it seems I don't have the correct tools, resources, and experience quite yet to achieve the finish I desire. But I do learn something about cheap tools in this video.
"You get what you pay for"
To my dear friend who has moved,
Thank you so very much for the copper found in these starters. I miss you and hope the best for your new location.
