ENCOURAGEMENT FOR A WORKING HOMEMAKER /evening clean with me / relaxing snow day

A homemaker is defined as a person who manages the home especially, but not limited to a housewife. By this definition anyone who manages a home can be considered a homemaker. One can be a homemaker and hold down a 9 to 5 job. In fact, this describes most homemakers in today's society due to a demanding economy. It is hard in 2022 to live on a one household income. It can be done, but not without sacrifices. Unless your husband has a well-established job. Today, I want to encourage those who are working full-time or part-time as well as trying to fulfill their duties as homemakers.
I want to encourage you to give yourself some mercy. I am the hardest on myself. I find my inner thoughts bashing me a lot, more than I want to admit. Whether it is due to not meeting specific goals for the day or that creeping feeling of being overwhelmed. Followed by multiple sighs of “I can’t do it all.” Here is the deal. You are human! I am here to tell you! We were not intended to do everything and especially not all at once. How can I fix this? Here is where a schedule would come in handy. Schedule out your main priorities such as taking care of the kids, bills, food, chores, etc., and let the rest wait until you are off work to complete. A homemaker’s job is never done and there will always be something to do to manage a home. Complete your main priorities on your workdays and let the rest lay.
I want to encourage you to put your game face on. What I mean by this is to prepare yourself. You are leaving work after putting in eight or more hours to go home to a second job. Homemaking is definitely a job! What do I mean by putting on a game face? Well, this is what it looks like for me; fixing my makeup, changing my clothes, and fixing my hair. Sometimes it looks like taking off my makeup, changing into comfy clothes, and braiding my hair. But do whatever makes you feel better to prepare yourself for the tasks at hand. I have found that being prepared gives me more energy than just jumping right in.
I want to encourage you to take some time for yourself. One person can not work all the time. This is a disaster waiting for burnout and overwhelmedness. Have your husband watch the kids while you read a chapter of your favorite book, or if that takes too long take a quick bath. You want to take some time to yourself even if that means scrolling endlessly on Instagram after the kids have gone to bed. This will help you recharge and avoid burnout or even being overwhelmed. Plus you deserve some pleasure!! You are hard-working and it is a nice reward at the end of a long day.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help!
I hope I have encouraged a hard-working mama or newlywed who needed some reminders to slow down and be human. Homemaking is a job that can not be done all at once. It takes time and scheduling. You are leaving one job for the next, but the only difference is that this job is more meaningful. You have a husband with possible kids who depend on you. You are loved and needed. At the end of the day if bellies are full and smiles are on faces you have done your job and you have done it well. Oh and don’t forget to take the time for yourself. You have got this homemaker!
