Anthony’s and Edwin’s granddads, Adam and Even, are dying and they have a simple request from both their long-estranged families: visit them one time so that they can reconcile. Instead of coming on their own and mending their relationships with their dads, Anthony’s and Edwin’s parents send them first. When the two young men reach there with the words of their parents’ in their heads, they struggle to come to terms with their granddads. But as the time pass, the two young men begin asking questions.
It all really starts from that one letter Edwin finds in his granddad’s basement. He shares it with Anthony, and both of them wonder how long the old men had known each other. As they try to understand more and more and the timeline of their romance, they discover some things: their granddads had met each other when they were in their late teens and immediately fallen in love. But because the society was so homophobic, they kept their love hidden from everyone. But as the 60s came, something must have happened in their personal lives because they separated and married women. It seemed to go well until the 1970s approached and both of them divorced their respective wives and separated from their families.
Anthony and Edwin assume that that was when they probably came together. However, they do not understand what happened in the 70s that the two men cheated on their wives—and, thus, on Anthony’s and Edwin’s grannies—and divorced them when things were at their lowest. As these things unfold and Anthony and Edwin struggle to come to terms with their granddad’s cruelty towards their grannies, the two old men die, one a few days after the other. After their death, the air around their families turns gloomy. As they deal with the two deaths, Anthony and Edwin settle down with the folder Even had left for them to piece together their history, romance, and the past tragedies and betrayals in the families. However, they are still left with some questions that they will find the answers to in the second part: why did the granddads leave so suddenly, and what happened in the early 70s that everything is so bitter between all of them.
