Back at the new bug ranch, Ive commissioned a small projects corner for this activity, which required ordering a seal and gasket kit from jawashop.com in the Czech republic.
To do this the engine will have to be removed from the bike and then completely disassembled. I don't have any of the special tools, but they are not required. Having a copy of the original manual (for an earlier model) made this job mush easier.
Only one casualty required a retap and thread in the whole engine, not bad.
As far as I was concerned the engine was in great condition but dir wise, corrupted. The seals, while appearing ok, were like stone, and blown out of their seating. The components were completely washed and degreased. Only oiling bearings and steel to hold it over until the next chapter when the new seals will be added.
