Rag Radio's Thorne Dreyer interviews legendary newsman Dan Rather, managing editor of Dan Rather Reports, and Austin environmental activist and sustainability consultant Robin Rather, in their first-ever father-daughter interview.
The syndicated Rag Radio ([ Ссылка ]) is produced in the studios of KOOP 91.7-FM, a cooperatively-run all-volunteer community radio station in Austin, Texas. Rag Radio is produced in affiliation with the New Journalism Project, a 501(c)3 Texas nonprofit, and the Internet news magazine, The Rag Blog ([ Ссылка ]). The video was shot by Alan Pogue and edited by William Michael Hanks.
The lively, far-ranging -- and frequently funny -- session includes anecdotes about Dan's early career in Houston, his dramatic and innovative coverage of Hurricane Carla in Galveston in 1961 that led to his hiring by CBS News, his blogging about Aaron Sorkin's HBO series, The Newsroom, and larger issues like the corporatization of today's news business and big money in politics. Environmental activist Robin talks about her seminal work in the movement to protect and sustain Austin's unique environment and the daunting challenges caused by the city's unprecedented growth spurt. They each talkabout the other's accomplishments and their close relationship over the decades.
