On tonight's adventure we get to play a little bit of clean-up in the Archaic period and finally move into the glorious Old Kingdom! On our last adventure I got a little bit stuck on the final mission in the Archaic Period known as Abedju (Abydos) so we have to replay that mission for a third time and then we can move triumphantly into the Old Kingdom! This mission took longer than normal because even though it claims to be a peaceful mission, if you don't provide Pharaoh with yearly tithes and requests then he will send his army to level your entire city and force you to start over. Yeah so you really need to focus on getting some goods for sale very quickly. The Papyrus scrolls sell for the most money and require the fewest workers so I go for those first to get my money right then start building your tombs. This area requires a huge metropolis city and it's your first taste of what's to come in Pharaoh + Cleopatra!

Pharaoh + Cleopatra is a game that came out for Windows PC all the way back in the late 90s! I played this game extensively as a teenager and it was such a blast! I was a huge fan of the SimCity series and played every game since the first one up until SimCity 3000 so I was very used to extremely complex city builders by the time I found Pharaoh. I actually never played the Cleopatra expansion as a kid so some of the gameplay is new to me but very little of it until you get much further into the game. The game is a huge blast from the past and will be my ongoing Throwback Thursday series until I complete the game. At some point in the near future we will also get the game Pharaoh: A New Era which is being released on Steam games. I'm so hyped for the new game which is why I'm replaying the old one in anticipation.
