In this episode of Turning Leak Detections Into Repair Work, we're at a vinyl liner pool in Simi Valley, CA.
As with all leak detections using any of the LeakTronics leak detection kits, we begin by walking the pool, checking all equipment and looking for anything out of the ordinary. this can include puddles of water, detached equipment, broken fittings, and anything that appears to hinder the proper functionality of the pool.
Then we listen in the pool using our LeakTronics PoolScope, the first and foremost tool for identifying leaks in pools. with this, discovered a leak behind the light in the pool. As with any leak detection, we don't stop at the first sign of a leak. We listen through the rest of the pool to rule out any other areas where a leak may be, then we scan the pool's vinyl liner using the VILO Vinyl Liner Leak Detection Kit. Using our methods of troubleshooting to avoid any false positive readings due to other grounds, like screws, or step tracks, we check the entire liner for pinholes, tears or areas where water is leaking through the vinyl.
Ultimately, we found the pool's single leak behind the light, and in the video, we show you the removal of the light and use the small mini-cam to both take a closer look at the leak and to perform a dye test to back up our findings.
In the end, we submitted our findings report to the client, bid the repair and got the work. Another successful leak detection turned into a paid repair job.
