After touring Gangtok & places around Gangtok in the last episode, I came to Lachen and have been in North Sikkim ever since.
In this episode, you'll get to see some of the most beautiful places that Sikkim has to offer. These are places that make me want to visit Sikkim once again and SOON! And I'm sure you'll easily fall in love with them too 💜💜
Here's an itinerary that you can refer to, in case you're planning a trip:
DAY 01:
- Lachen to Gurudongmar Lake
Stop at 'Dosa By The Way' - World's highest dosa cafe before reaching the lake, Try ghee dosa here
- Spend time at Gurudongmar Lake (Inner line permit reqd. Get at MG Marg in Gangtok)
Oxygen is very low here, so don't exert yourself too much. Layer up a lot because it's super cold no matter what month you go. Swimming / diving in the lake isn't allowed. Take lotsss of pictures!
- Head for Lachung Village (4 hr drive)
Watch out for pit stops like I've shown in the video, on your way
- Check in to hotel at Lachung and rest
DAY 02:
- Wake up early and leave for Zero Point
This place too is super cold at all times so layer up!
- Head to Yumthang Valley (Valley of flowers)
Best to visit during March- May. The valley completely blossoms with flowers. Visit the hot springs here
- Head back to hotel & rest
*Some things to keep in mind*
- Sikkim is quite strict on covid protocol and you need to have your double vaccine certificate or else RT PCR report (not older than 48 hrs) if you're single vaccinated as a HARD COPY. They check this at various check posts so do keep 3-4 hard copies handy
- A lot of places require inner line permits / visiting permits for which you'll need your passport size photos, so keep a few of those handy too
- Always keep some camphor handy so you can use it to acclimatize better wherever oxygen is a bit low
- Wear clothes in layers. Even summers in North Sikkim are chilly
- Inner line permit for Gurudongmar and Entry to North Sikkim permits are required (all can be got at tourist information centre at MG Marg in Gangtok)
- Carry a STEEL flask / water bottle along. Plastic is strictly banned once you enter North Sikkim. There's a huge dustbin at the check point to throw away all your plastic bottles. You wont get water bottle at most places, so carry own flask
- Do not litter anywhere, apart from being fined, you will also be responsible for dirtying one of the most beautiful locations!
