Welcome back to our series Inside Renewable Fuels for the last segment on e-fuels.
Do you know what is Direct Air Capture technology (#DAC)?
As Alain Mathuren explains, a DAC extracts CO2 directly from the air by using fans to draw air in and then capturing the carbon through a liquid or a solid chemical process.
This is the start of a new industry which will grow to meet our 2050 zero emission objective. In the IEA’s Net Zero Emissions by 2050 Scenario, direct air capture is scaled up to capture almost 60 Mt CO2/year by 2030. This level of deployment is within reach but will require several more large-scale demonstration plants to refine the technology and reduce capture costs.
Stay tuned for the next episode!
