TRON Lightcycle Power Run pre show video from the highly acclaimed rollercoaster at Shanghai Disneyland. This POV was filmed at night from the back row so as to give the best view of the bikes in action.
Built by Vekoma, it is based on their Booster Bike coaster design. Obviously being Disney the theming completely transforms the ride.
The bikes have lighting around the wheels, chassis and on the back restraints. At various points during the ride the lighting changes colour and intensity. One of the cool things is that when a restraint is secure on a rider it changes colour from purple to blue. There's also a point in the ride where the bikes turn orange so that in a mirror it looks like you are racing against another group of bikes.
Something I've not seen on any previous Booster Bike train is that one of them has a car at the back to allow those unable to sit on a bike to ride in a standard style of seat. And of course this car still features the cool light effects and reminds me of the Knightrider car, KITT.
Most of the ride takes place indoors making it hard to see. But the first portion is outdoors giving spectators a great view of the ride. It looks fantastic during the day but it's when it starts to get dark outside that the ride really comes to life thanks to the onboard lighting and the effects on the building too.
It has already been announced that another TRON Lightcycle Power Run is to be built at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida. And rumours are another will be built at Disneyland Resort Paris.
