Atrial fibrillation compromises the heart’s ability to effectively pump blood from the upper chambers (atria) to the lower chambers (ventricles). As a result, blood can pool and clot. These clots can break off and travel to other parts of the body, including the brain. Premier Health’s Dr. Mark Krebs discusses the increased stroke risk for people with atrial fibrillation.
