A salt lake in Melbourne’s Westgate Park has caught people’s eye after it turned bright pink.
The change to the Australian lake is due to a natural phenomenon caused by the rapid growth of algae which produces a red pigment during photosynthesis.
High salt levels, warm temperatures and of course, a lot of sunlight provide the perfect conditions for this to happen.
