If you're making a trip to visit the lakes and you're standing on the viewing platform at the Soo, or on the riverbank at Sarnia or Port Huron, this is a guide with some simple ways to speak about the lake freighters and sound like you know what you're talking about.

BUT- there's a bit more to it than just that.

Although this video is intended largely for newbees visiting the lakes I have peppered it with photos of classic lakers and fleet markings from bygone days- THAT is for the experienced boatnerds to enjoy. Beware- you'll be flashing back to the 80s and 90s and it'll be all my fault.
