Moira and her sibling Johnny, just over 2 weeks old, were just rescued and covered in fleas. In this video, their new foster mom learns how to bathe them with Lemon Ajax dish soap to start the flea removal process (they are too small to get flea medicine). The oil in the soap kills the adult fleas after a few minutes, but not the eggs, so the kittens will need to be bathed periodically until all the fleas are gone. Fleas can be quite damaging on kittens this young. Make sure the water is warm, not hot, and once they are dried off put them in a nice comfy bed with a warming disc underneath the bedding. Also make sure they have enough space to move off the disc in case they get hot.
