You might have heard that Alphabet’s DeepMind says it has solved the key “protein folding problem” using its AI, a breakthrough that could speed up drug discovery. And you might have thought, gee, another breakthrough for AI, ho hum. But really, you need to understand what a big deal this is. The protein folding problem is something that has bedeviled scientists for over 50 years. This clears a huge logjam in theoretical development.
