The Cowboy Saddle is where true mule saddles began. In this video you'll learn the characteristics of a saddle that keeps a mule and donkey in ultimate comfort and places the rider in complete control of the animal.

*******************************
The Cowboy Saddle features rear d-ring for cinches, front plating for additional rigging custom for the mule. Rear rings are placed on the rear of the saddle to accommodate your breeching (NOT A CRUPPER).
The saddle itself is rounded off in the rear to remove pressure off of the hips and rounded off in the front to remove pressure of the scapula.
You'll find that the rear or the saddle is not sewn together. Why? Look at your mule's back and you'll see, along the spine in the rear, 3-4 bumps - sewing up the rear of the saddle is going to place pressure on that place - keeping it separated keeps the mule comfortable.
Underneath it all is a tree that has bars made to accommodate the back of the mule (which he gets from his daddy, the donkey). Horse saddles will place pressure on the scapula and rock back and pound down on the kidneys. Steve Edwards' Signature Saddles have a bar that is customized for the mule's back and evenly distributes weight along the mule's back - removing pressure from the kidneys and the scapula.
