This is an example of what not to do…
After finishing 2nd to Kevin in the first 3 heats, I got the jump on him in the 4th heat and took the win. Starting the main in 2nd and kart/motor feeling great, I was looking forward to battling for the win.
Unfortunately a poor start on my part had Nathan Stewart and Nick Firestone get the jump on me and for the first time since returning to racing last year, mis-judged braking into turn 1, tagging and spinning out Nathan and Nick. I am sorry for ruining their races, they were running great, plus had traveled out to Sonoma. I'd also like to apologize to my team Cameron and RWR for wasting this opportunity with the great package they had worked on for me.
With my belief in never giving up, I got going and battled my way back up to 5th despite a bent steering column and managed to run the 2nd quickest times of the main - a tiny consolation.
I own my mistakes, learn and move on. Apologies again to Nathan, Nick and my team, but looking forward to racing again soon. Congratulations to Kevin Woods on his great win!
