VelociDrone is the best drone racing sim I've tried so far, but how good is it? I rebuilt a track that I made in a real life session and picked a quad and set it up as close to my actual quads I could. I'm running about 60 degrees of camera tilt in the sim as well as IRL. The scale of the track isn't 100% perfect, but it's close enough. My flying in VD isn't the most representative either, but it's also limited by the current physics of the game.
The basic conclusion that can be made is that there is a "jello" effect in the sim. It's not as bad as all the other sims out there, but it's still very much there. There's much more "bite" to the quad, or an "on rails" feel if you like, in real life - especially when you're running higher camera tilt.
You can't see it in the clip, but whereas I'm using the top register of the throttle IRL, I'm only at the middle of the spectrum in VelociDrone - which could be due to a number of things, like weight of the quad, characteristics of the propellers, overpowered motors, gravity, air drag/density. This probably ties in with the jello-feel in the overall physics.
Again, this is the best physics/stick feel I've experienced in a drone sim so far, so the idea of this video, if anything, is just to help make it even better!
