After successfully completing 5 years of being on the '5 year Partner route' in the UK, you are eligible to apply for 'Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK' (ILR, also known as Permanent Residence). Only after obtaining ILR, will you then be able to apply for British Citizenship. Once you have naturalised as a British citizen, only then can you apply for a British Passport.
