For a small village in central China, this new 30-meter high 5G base station is a modern-day lighthouse for fishermen trying to find their way home.
As of September of this year, China has built more than 2.2 million 5G base stations, serving over 500 million users with navigation, transportation and other services.
In the Xiong'an New Area of northern China, 5G-equipped autonomous buses are being tested before being put into operation by the end of the year.
And at this plant in central China's Shiyan City, a 5G-assisted platform is helping technicians assemble trucks under the guidance of experts who are in other physical locations.
According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), by 2025, the country plans to invest about 170 billion U.S. dollars into its 5G networks, creating around three million jobs.
