Legendary Russian Warrior Max Novoselov | Russian Self Defense | The True Battle In Prison
Maxim Novoselov is a former European combat sambo champion who could’ve potentially made his mark in the world of combat sports if it wasn’t for his two prison terms. Details on Novoselov’s case are difficult to obtain as Russian sources are difficult to interpret, but it appears that after serving in the military, Maxim was sentenced to prison for the first time, allegedly for murder. Maxim called his first time in prison “a mistake” in an interview to the Russian tabloids.
After release in 2004, became the captain of the national combat sambo team and was a self-defense trainer for a number of wealthy Russian celebrities. A number of years later though, Novoselov was charged with cocaine trafficking and sentenced again. Today he’s 43, still imprisoned but the word “despair” seems to be in the guy’s vocabulary. While in jail, Maxim spends his time training with fellow in mates helping them rid themselves of any negative energy.
Strongman Mikhail Koklyaev hosts a show about power lifting called “True Gym.” In the episode the video excerpt below is taken from, he visits the Russian prison where Novoselov does his time. Despite his calm and seemingly friendly demeanor, you can tell the guy commands a huge amount of respect.
