Our Fourth installment of "Jeff & Christine Learn to Paint" -- Picking the Right Paint Tools!
This episode joins Jeff & Christine back at the General Paint store where they show General Paint's helpful employee their colour choices that Susan Nikula the colour consultant helped them pick out!
They picked: Newbury CLC 1228W, Straw Hat CLC 1227A & Hipster CLC 1226D
Helpful General Paint employee Carla then shows the couple all the tools needed to correctly and safely paint a wall!
You will need:
• Drop Cloth: When buying a drop cloth, always go for a canvas one, it is easy on the environment and it will save you money because you can use it for a life time of projects!
• Paint: You should use a water based (acrylic) because of its easy clean up (water), ease on the environment and low odour!
• Whizz roller kit: This handy little kit has a little tray and roller for smaller jobs like spot priming!
• Enviro-TSP, bucket, plastic gloves & sponges: This type of TSP doesn't need to be rinsed off and is easy on the environment!
• Frog Tape: Great for water based paint because when it gets wet, it seals and prevents excess bleeding!
• Primer: Primers are designed to provide a solid foundation for a finish coat and to prevent porous surfaces like patching compound from absorbing the finish coat unevenly. An unsealed surface absorbs paint irregularly and results in "flashing".
• Drydex Putty & 2" Putty Knife: This filling agent starts off pink and dries to a nice white so you know when it is time to sand!
• Paint Pal Bucket
• 120 grit Sandpaper:
• 2 ½ Angled Brush: Great for "cutting in" in those places a roller can't get to!
• Roller trays and liners
• Roller sleeves & cagses
• Extension Pole
• Stepladder
• Spinner: To clean brushes/rollers
Stay tuned for the next episode on Wall Preparation!
