A challenging and stimulating Education Abroad experience was transformative for Raven, which has inspired her thinking about the importance of gaining an international perspective for all college students. Here, she shares her vision for a curriculum with a global lens.
I am a recent graduate of the University of South Florida, where I double majored in International Studies and Political Science. In the spring of 2012, I spent six months abroad in London. My time spent abroad was life changing, and serves as the main inspiration for my TEDxUSF Talk. While attending USF, I interned with the USF Education Abroad Office, became a proud sister of Gamma Phi Beta International Sorority, and conducted independent research with two professors. My future goals include attending graduate school, continuing to travel and attending NAFSA conferences.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
