Nina Bahinskaya, a 73-year-old activist who has become one of the best-known faces of the protest movement in Belarus, was among hundreds arrested by police on Saturday.
The police crackdown came as demonstrators marched through the capital of Minsk, to call for an end to Alexander Lukashenko’s rule.
The authoritarian leader has come under fire after winning a contested election in August, which critics have claimed was rigged in his favour.
