Healthy snack with Rava / Sooji / Semolina. This can be done in less than 30 mins. Perfect for quick snack for tea time or party starter or unexpected guest. This can be good for snack box or teatime snack or even breakfast / brunch
INGREDIENTS:
Rava / Semolina / Sooji - 1 cup (No need to roast)
Yogurt - 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Carrot - 1/2 cup (grated)
Curry leaves - 10 (chopped finely)
Coriander - 1 tablespoon (chopped finely)
Mint Leaves- 10 (chopped finely)
Onion - 1.5 cups (chopped finely)
Oil - 3 teaspoon + oil for cooking paniyaram
Urad dal - 1 teaspoon
Bengal Gram dal - 1 teaspoon
Cashew - 1 teaspoon (broken)
Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
Green chillies - 2 (chopped finely)
Baking soda - 2 pinches
How to make rava kara kuzhi paniyaram? | Step by step instructions
STEP 1:
Mix rava, yogurt, salt and 1/4 cup of water. Let it sit for 1/2 hour to 1 hour.
STEP 2:
Heat 1 teaspoon of oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and let it pop.
Then, in a pan, add urad dal, bengal gram dal and add cashew, chilies, curry leaves, mint leaves and fry till dals are brown in color.
Once done, add the fried mixture and carrot to batter.
STEP 3:
Heat rest of oil with onion, salt to fry till it turns slightly brown in color.
STEP 4:
Now, add the prepared mixture in batter and add coriander leaves, baking soda and mix well.
Add some water to bring into idli batter consitency.
STEP 5:
Heat the paniyaram pan, add oil and heat it. When the oil is hot pour batter in each hole. Now, close it with lid and let it cook.
STEP 6:
Turn it over and cook on other side.
STEP 7:
Once cooked remove it from pan and serve hot.
