In FLOW-3D HYDRO, you can use either two-dimensional (2D) depth-averaged or three-dimensional computational meshes. You can even use both 2D and 3D meshes within the same model. In this bridge example, a 2D mesh is used in the larger extent of the river, but a detailed 3D mesh is used near the bridge to capture the 3D flow behavior at the bridge piers.
