If a bird has an unusual food, it may have an unusual beak. We cover several examples.
Long, curved beaks (like a toucan) are helpful for eating fruit.
Tubular beaks (like a hummingbird) are for eating flowers (or shellfish).
Grooved beaks (like a duck) are for filtering water.
Generalist beaks (like a crow) are multi-purpose tools. But they are rare because multiple-purpose tools aren't perfect.
