Selective Service System / This is a selective service system registration form, and in the video, I wanted to go over a couple common questions that came up on my previous video about what selective service is.

If you've received this Selective Service card in the mail, this probably looks familiar to you.

In the fine print, it says "failure to provide the required information may violate the military selective service act. Conviction for such a violation may result in imprisonment for up to five years and or a fine of not more than $250,000" if you fail to return this and register with selective service.

This brings up the question of, do you really get in trouble for not registering? You know, what's the penalty for not registering?

And if you look over here on the actual website, the selective service system website, where you can register, this is what it looks like to register on the website.

And down here at the bottom, you notice they don't have that notice on here. I went over to "26 and older" tab, because the cutoff age is 26 to register, and it's not on this part of the website either.

If you failed to register by age 26, you could be denied federal aid, like financial aid for college, or you could be denied federal employment.

And this is why it's important to make sure you turn this card in or register here online. So I don't have any experience with someone who has not registered.

I don't know if they're actually out there enforcing. So I went searching around and I came across this answer on Quora from a year ago, a little over a year ago.

This person has a friend who did not register and saw no difficulties until around his 21st birthday when he began getting a stream of hate mail as he described it from the federal government warning of arrests and prosecution.

He had been getting warnings basically in the mail. He started getting warnings in the mail and then he got denied his federal aid and grants.

So my best response would be just to register.

This doesn't enlist you into the military. The military is totally by choice still in the United States.

This is just in case of a draft, in the highly unlikely event of a draft, this is where they turn to for all your information and where you will be drafted from.

I feel that it would be more beneficial to do a live livestream on this so I'm able to take some questions and answer them in real time.
