I finally got around to getting my Mexican Fender Strat back from the guitar tech. This was my very first guitar. This Stratocaster came out of the factory in 1990, and it's back in a big way. Freshly installed all new upgrades worth nearly $500. MIM Strat just got a sexy makeover!

One more upgrade that I forgot to mention was the bridge pickup tone mod. I now have it set up so that the lower tone knob works on the bridge pickup in position one. I always wondered why Fender (and Squire) don't wire it this way from the factory? Huge mod! I highly recommend having that done to any/all Strats.

What is your take on the Mexican vs American Strat? Do the specs warrant the huge price difference? Personally, I think you can get away with a better deal by upgrading a Mexican Strat to your liking and still come out spending less in the end. Budget fender with all the upgrades.

Lesson - Don't ever sell your first guitar. You might not want it now, but someday you will regret it.
