Do you want to know the secret to a happy marriage? It’s found right there in the Word of God. First Corinthians 13:4-5 says, “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged (New Living Translation).”
The Amplified Bible translates it this way: “Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].”
How often do spouses do the opposite of this verse? How often are they touchy, fretful and resentful as they interact with one another? How often do they allow little irritations to cloud their relationships? And how much better would their marriages be if they put these scriptures into practice? They would probably have the happy marriages they desire.
Right now, watch this Ministry Minute video from Gloria Copeland and hear what she has to say about living the love walk with your spouse every day. It is a key to enjoying a happy marriage!
