I had an amazing aviation opportunity today to shoot a PAR approach with a military controller. This approach was performed at the nearby Gray Army Airfield, part of Joint Base Lewis-McChord. PAR approach is used by the military when conventional approach equipment is unavailable (GPS jamming, for example) or an aircraft's navigation system is inoperable. It involves a high resolution 3-D radar with a controller specifying every move to get the aircraft to the runway. Don't be fooled by the calmness of the video - this was very intense for me.
