Elmhurst Hospital for a Covid-19 epicentre with the number of Covid-19 patients coming in increasing everyday. It put a strain on the frontline doctors, nurses and healthcare worker, as well as the resources to treat them, including medicines, beds and ventilators. Now cases are reducing but the chaos that Covid-19 brought with it has transformed into a scary silence as the hospital notices that non-Covid-19 patients haven't been returning for treatments. They worry, "people must be dying at home." New York Times spent a day at the hospital to see how the staff is recovering from the emotional toll of caring for Covid-19 patients and even preparing for a second wave.
