This is a large set of fake 1 tael gold bars. They are dimensioned and minted to look as close as possible to the real thing. And from far, and mixed with other things, they can do the job.

As you can see, the bars are minted as to be 37.5g, which is one Tael. However, at weighing, 19.6g. That is because copper is so much lighter than gold.

On top of that, the minting is not as good quality, but at night, or in a hurry, they will fool many people. They are plated just enough to have that gold bullion look expected from bars meant for Asian buyers.
