In this video, student Liam shares information about the Tourism Management programme at Breda University of Applied Sciences. The programme offers an international perspective, starting with a study trip within Europe in the first year to understand the tourism industry from different stakeholders outside the Netherlands. In the second year, students go on another study trip outside of Europe, providing a broader global perspective on tourism and an opportunity to learn about different cultures and their impact on tourism.
Throughout the four years, guest lectures are organized, offering behind-the-scenes experiences and valuable insights. Liam mentions a favorite guest lecture by a psychologist, which was related to personal and professional development (PPD). PPD is a module that helps students grow both academically and professionally. It focuses on studying techniques and general well-being.
In the third year, students participate in a placement or internship, which can be completed either in the Netherlands or abroad. Liam applied for and was accepted by Travel Life, a leading training management and certification initiative for sustainable tour operators and travel agents. Liam's interest in sustainable tourism aligns with the modules and tracks they have chosen, such as tourism destinations, design, and development. Working for a company that prioritizes sustainability was the next logical step for them.
