Springs are the best.
So, I've heard some rumors about the developers considering adding a mechanic of running on the surface of water. This isn't in the early demo, so the right side of the map can be a bit difficult to navigate at speed, but I found a way! Interestingly, this path remains relatively quick despite a lack of speed compared to the "center" route, the fastest route I know of at the moment. This is because it has some good hills to roll down near the beginning, and is actually a fairly straight path towards the goal!
