Earthquaker Devices Life Pedal V2 Fuzz/Distortion
The holidays are over and we’ve brought something back with us: the Earthquaker Devices Life Pedal V2. No longer cloaked in secrecy, the Life Pedal V2 is the second distortion and boost with a blendable octave that EQD has engineered in collaboration with drone metal pioneers SUNN, housing it this time in an Earthquaker-style chassis with top-mounted controls. And you bet your life this will sell out in a flash, just like the first.

Henry Describes the Life Pedal V2
Hello again, Internet. I'm Henry Bianco with Chicago Music Exchange. And today, we're talking about the Earthquaker Devices Life Pedal V2. This distortion and boost pedal with Blundell. Octave is a collaboration between Earth Quaker and drone metal pioneers. Sun O))), you may have noticed I called this Life Pedal V2. That implies there is a V1 and there was indeed with the release of the last Sun O))) record.
They did a limited edition version of this pedal, highly coveted. They flew off the shelves. Because of that Earthquaker decided to do another limited run, this time called V2 in a more recognizable Earthquaker style housing with the exact same circuitry and functionality as the original Life Pedal had.
The pedal has three main sections distortion, octave and boost, the distortion section is faithful to everyone's favorite old Rat pedal down to the original LM308 IC chips and tantalum capacitors. The octave section is based on a couple old Shin-Ei, octave fuzz pedals and the boost section is a MOSFET design that'll stay clean pretty much up until you don't want it to anymore.
Afterneath v3
Highly Musical Ambient Effects
The original Afterneath pedal broke new ground for delay and reverb effects, and with the EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath V3 effects pedal, you have more creative control over these ambient effects than ever before. The evocative reverb algorithm is the same, using swarms of short delays to create unique washes of sonic texture. Now in its third generation, Afterneath V3 adds a voltage/expression input for external control, plus nine different modes that govern how the Drag control interacts with the reverb effect. Plug in an expression pedal, explore the different Drag modes, and discover an entirely new world of ambient effects with the EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath V3 effects pedal.
Multiple Drag modes produce surprisingly musical ambient effects
The way the delay and reverb interact within the Afterneath V3 effects pedal is rather esoteric — Sweetwater definitely recommends spending some time simply turning knobs and exploring different settings. When you set the Reflect and Length parameters to high levels, self-oscillation occurs, and you can use the Drag parameter to tweak the pitch of the oscillation. The Mode control directs the behavior of the Drag control, with nine different modes available.

GearSounds is the newest up and coming gear review and demo channel on youtube. For years I have played gear related to guitar and keyboard and now it is finally my turn to put my opinion in. I have been playing guitar since 2004 and I'm ready to give my opinions about all of the newest, best and most reliable gear available today. I am a huge fan of Wampler pedals, Digitech, Chase Bliss Audio, Strymon, VOX, Friedman, Dunlop, Boss, Electro-Harmonix, Walrus audio, Zvex, JHS and more. Expect to see me at Namm every year. When the videos at Namm run out I'll keep you entertained with in-depth reviews and demos of my favorite gear on my pedalboard and beyond. I hope you enjoy GearSounds! Keep playing an instrument. If we don't keep playing our instruments music will continue to die. Even if it takes an obsession with gear to keep us going I am here to help. I am always up for suggestions and collaborations on this channel. Simply contact me here on youtube or my music channel on Facebook. If you want to check out my music you can go to:
