A Sharks World Premiere - Born to Run! Played as the opening number of the Sharks encore on May 4, 2019, immediately after the presentation of Certificates of Appreciation to the band members on the occasion of their 40th anniversary. If you are a Springsteen fan, you will find the story told by bass player Shea Quinn to be very interesting! When Bruce played a short set at the Village in 1984 on a night when the Sharks were playing, the bootleg recording of the Boss was released under the title, "The Unplanned Gig." Having made their reputation as a 1980s "new wave" band, it was a huge but awesome surprise to hear the Sharks perform BTR - especially when Shea tied it all together with Bruce's 1984 surprise appearance!
I don't know what it's like now (in part because it's been 40 years since I lived in Lancaster), but back then many of the biggest acts used Clare Brothers Audio for their sound, and Clare Brothers was/is located in Lititz, PA, just north of Lancaster. Bands would stay in or near Lancaster for a little while while testing out their sound equipment. I missed out on the Boss :-( but I did get to meet Peter Frampton in 1976 as a result of what I just described.
