Colors of La Comunidad...A Mural Project in Phoenix, AZ.
Colors of la Comunidad is a project founded by Lucinda Y Hinojos (La Morena). Project Manager: Diana Calderon
Colors of La Comunidad is a project that advocates change through art. Our mission is to empower, motivate and inspire our communities. Through murals, we can educate and unify communities. Our goal is to partner with organizations that work toward making our communities better and are dedicated to enforcing change. In our current times, many are dealing with issues that take their human rights away; rights that affect our family, and our friends. Art is a way to bring awareness and provide healing for many.
This year we are doing a series of murals through out Maricopa and in Tucson in honor of the 10th year Anniversary of AZ's toughest law known as SB1070.
AZ SB1070 is a 2010 legislative Act in the U.S State of AZ at the time of passage in 2010 was the broadest and strictest anit-illegal immigration measure passed in the United States. And received International attention. On this very street we decided to paint a mural. The same street were the residence of AZ protested almost 10 years ago.
