The new BMW 5 Series, eighth generation, is coming to dealer lots. The renowned high-performance sedan is expected to undergo a significant transformation with the release of the 2025 BMW M5. A major step towards electrification, the first M5 will use a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It looks like the 2025 BMW M5 will be an interesting car. There won't be an M5 faster or more powerful than this one, and it will also be the first to include electrification. With a luxurious cabin, signature BMW handling and jaw-dropping performance, this car was destined to be a hit. The new M5 is sure to be a hit as it gives an aggressive edge to an already stylish four-door sedan. Similar to previous M models, it will have a fearsome bumper topped by BMW's illuminated "kidney grille." The most striking modification is the aggressive front fascia, which now has a thinner chin lip and larger corner vents. The trunk will feature an equally subtle lip spoiler, and a new rear fascia with four exhaust outlets is sure to be present. Multiple air intakes in the front fascia, expansive wheel wells and four exhaust tips complete the rear design. Simultaneously, for the 2025 model year, the updated 5 Series debuts. Although it will be released later this year, the M5 probably won't hit the American market until 2025. Depending on the trim level and number of optional extras, the 2025 BMW M5 could cost anywhere from $120,000 to $140,000. The speedy 5 Series supposedly gets its power from the same plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology seen in the 735-horsepower XM Red Label SUV, which can produce 735 pound-feet of torque distributed to all four wheels. That's the total power produced by the M5's gas engine—a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8—and its lithium-ion battery. The M5 will likely include an eight-speed automatic gearbox, like the XM Red Label.
