Antonia Amaranta Brock, Universidad Javeriana, Colombia, presented her "Bridging the Digital Divide In Rural Communities as a Way For Empowerment. The project aims to bridge the digital divide that affects more than 40% of the world's population -according to the 2021st Digital Report, with an overwhelming majority being in the rural and remote areas. The project has been structured upon the principle of Grassroots Innovations. By working directly with the community to develop alternatives that will allow the community to provide and maintain themselves the required structures for internet access without depending on the dominant institutions. By this means, women in rural areas benefit from having direct access to information, including on their human rights and opportunities that overwise wouldn't be at their reach.
