Heavy clashes during the battle for parts of Qunaitra province, multiple brigades connected to the Free Syrian Army including Ahrar Al-Sham, Kata'ib Masjid Muqadas and more, the battle became significant because the amount of foreign fighters and foreign commanders involved.
Qunaitra is known for it's border crossing the Qunaitra Crossing which is a ceasefire line crossing between Syrian controlled territory and the Israeli-occupied portion of the Golan Heights.
Since the eruption of the Syrian civil war, the Qunaitra Governorate, including the UN-observed neutral zone was subject to severe clashes between Syrian rebels and government troops.
The Syrian Rebels have been trying real hard since 2013 to capture the city but have dealt with major blows. This battle which is named The Dawn of Spring including multiple brigades seems successful according to the Free Syrian Army.
The Free Syrian Army claims to have captured many villages and checkpoints including the villages Kerks, Suysa, Ain al-Tinah and Al-Qusaybah also the checkpoint Tell Al-Hara which is also under control of the rebels.
The Syrian Army still holds most of the ground in Qunaitra but clashes are still going on and the Syrian Army is responding with heavy airstrikes on militant positions.
