To become a real estate appraiser in California, a candidate must complete the trainee requirement, take the pre-licensing education, accumulate work hours, pass the associated appraiser exam, and submit an application to the Bureau of Real Estate Appraisers (BREA).
California has 4 distinct real estate appraiser licenses, they are the:
- Appraiser Trainee (AT)
- Residential Appraiser (AL)
- Certified Residential Appraiser (AR)
- Certified General Appraiser (AG)
